codera

Codera is all grey granite and dense green forests. The houses are built with the same rock as the surrounding mountains. The valley is narrow, steep, and almost entirely forested.

The Locanda

The building stands at the entrance of the village, right in front of the church. It was built to be the village school, one of the few signs that Codera was once a lively place, with enough children to justify a class. Today integrated into it are a mountain hut, a restaurant, and the home of the Val Codera ethnographic museum, which documents the lives of the valley's stone quarrymen, farmers, and families.
